Man, I’m really cranking out the patterns in 2014! My goal is to make 12 total conversion patterns, and this one is #6, technically. (I don’t count fire star, it’s just a variation of ice star.) So a few weeks ago on Sew, Mama, Sew Amy from Badskirt shared how to make some glorious Castle Wall blocks the traditional way. I really loved everything about it: the colors and fabric she used, the design, it just sang to me. Except for the traditional piecing. Y’all know I don’t go for traditional piecing. So I made my own paper-pieced version of the castle wall block and my pattern tester, Nicole from Snips Snippets, even came up with an awesome semi-on-point variation that I love even more! It’s probably in my block dictionary but I haven’t bothered looking it up. I did include it as a variation in the pattern. Woo!
So here’s all the pics! Goodie!
This is my original pattern mock up. Fabric is allllll Lizzy House. Love that girl.
And here is Nicole’s awesome version with a bit of extra awesome thrown in. Nicole’s is the alternative version with the center set on-point.
