The Conversion Project – FIRE STAR (And free downloadable pattern – sort of.)

This week I’m taking a little bit of a cheater’s break and not posting a pattern, but rather an alternative.

Fabrics include the same as before: Nordika, Tule, and Waterfront Park.

fire starI’m calling this the Fire Star. It’s just the Ice Star pattern, but I’ve flipped the chevron pattern pieces around to face out instead of in. Easy Peasy! Specifically I chose to flip just the center chevron strip of the corner blocks and leave the triangles, rather than rotating the entire block 180 degrees. I think it helps keep the block together a little better that way. I would also consider leaving off the dark navy chevrons in the corners. I’m not sure they work but hey, that’s they pattern so I rolled with it.

Also this morning I saw @mrstoye had posted her first Ice Star block! She’s making an entire quilt of Ice Stars! NICE! She’s using Pat Bravo’s Carnaby Street Fabrics. It’s looking great!
