The Conversion Project – ICE STAR (With free downloadable pattern!)

Okay I seem to have moved beyond traditional pattern conversion into pattern design. *shrug* What can I say, I love it! This pattern is a modification of the Fusion Star pattern I shared earlier this week. I just added another couple of chevrons and Bob’s your uncle! I did originally have more complicated corner pieces, but with this design the assembly is exactly the same as the Fusion Star. And consistency is a good thing, my friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have scoured both pattern encyclopedias in my possession and can confidently say this is an original pattern. So please, PLEASE, don’t sell it or call it your own. If you post about it I’d appreciate a link back here, and if you sew this pattern I would really LOVE to see your work, and probably post pics of it here, if you let me! So shoot me an email – sewwhatsherlock [at] gmail [dot] com, ย or @ me on instagram – @sewwhatsherlock. Or just post a comment here! Please feel free to make and sell items using my pattern on a home scale. ๐Ÿ™‚

OK so here’s the block.

Fabrics used from center out: Indian Summer, Nordika, Waterfront Park, Waterfront Park, and Tule. Finishes at 24″ x 24″.

FYI I’ll have a Memory Block pattern up by the end of the weekend, probably.

Here’s another possible color arrangement. This one kinda makes me a little giddy.

Thank you so much for sharing! I saw your photo on IG and I just had to come over! I have a new found love for paper piecing and I just love how different fabric placement can change the entire look of the same block! Love this! Will definitely be making one soon.

If you do, let me know! I have been dying to make a giant star quilt… I just have so many other projects right now that I haven’t gotten around to it. Would love to live vicariously through you ๐Ÿ˜‰
